HEAL Spotlight: Researcher Compute Option Decision Tree
Working Prototype – Special thanks to Franz Hartl for helping to develop this early prototype!
The Big Idea
We’re building a simple web app that acts like a “TurboTax” for researchers. By answering a few key questions, researchers will be guided to the best compute, storage, and collaboration tools for their specific data security and IRB needs.
Why We’re Doing This
This project will make our research community smarter and more efficient by:
- Simplifying Complex Decisions: Researchers can easily find the right tools without navigating complicated documentation.
- Saving Time: The app provides immediate, tailored recommendations, eliminating the need for extensive manual searches.
- Improving Compliance: By guiding users to the correct resources, we help ensure their work meets all data security and IRB requirements.
- Empowering Self-Service: Researchers can find what they need on their own, reducing reliance on direct support.
Key Outcomes
Our goal is a simple, user-friendly interface that:
- Asks targeted questions to understand the researcher’s needs.
- Presents the best options based on their answers.
- Provides clear pros and cons for each choice.
- Links directly to the right support resources for each tool.
Who Benefits?
- Our Team: HSIT Research Systems
- Our Community: Health Science IT and the entire Yale Community
