HEAL - Yale Health AVD Test Deployments and User Testing

HEAL Spotlight: Yale Health AVD Test Deployment

The Big Idea

We’re launching a hands-on pilot program with 50-100 Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) licenses. This is our chance to test how AVD can revolutionize remote work, application delivery, and device management.

Why We’re Doing This

We’re setting up a controlled environment to:

  • Experiment with AVD technology across different devices (thin clients, Chromebooks, etc.).
  • Test specialized workflows and domain specific software at Yale Health.
  • Get real feedback from the Yale Health community on how they use it.
  • Refine our deployment strategies based on user acceptance testing.
  • Validate security and compliance to ensure we’re meeting institutional standards.

The goal? To find the best way to use AVD to improve our long-term technology strategy and support for the Health Science community.

Who Benefits?

  • Our Team: Yale Health & Endpoint Teams
  • Our Community: Yale Health & the entire Health Science community
  • Our Partners: Technology Support Services

Key Outcomes

This project will help us:

  • Enable Technology Experimentation: Test AVD with real-world users and devices.
  • Inform Long-Term Planning: Use our findings to guide future virtual desktop solutions.
  • Support Specialized Use Cases: Prove AVD’s suitability for high-demand, specialized applications.
  • Gather Community Feedback: Ensure we’re building a solution that truly meets user needs.

Our Values in Action

This project directly aligns with our mission to:

✅ Reduce Barriers and Inefficiency ✅ Make Results Visible ✅ Earn Trust of Partners ✅ Experiment with Focus ✅ Invest and Grow
